Best Glow in the Dark Paintings So Far (?!) : Starry Nights, Tiny Forests & Light That Lasts All Night
Over the last few months, I’ve been working on a series of glow in the dark paintings - small, luminous pieces that hold the sky. They’re some of my favourites so far, more colourful, more atmospheric (that’s the word I was looking for!), and ethereal. Think star-sprinkled galaxies glowing over dark little forests. Shadows, silhouettes, and starlight. Is this how Shadowlux will be going forward? I don't know yet.

Each painting in this series is a tiny experiment. I’ve been pushing into new techniques: using acrylics in a more watercolour way than before, layering light, letting the glow paint do more than just outline which is what I see mostly from other artists. Some of the methods are working really well some are total and complete disasters. The kind that make you seriously consider taking up potato farming instead. All this time has been an artistic roller coaster struggle. The extreme ups and downs I hate my art, I love my art ... that if you're an artist you'll know. But these pieces are where the breakthroughs are happening so I'll keep going for now.

They glow all night long. Put one beside your bed and it becomes a nightlight with stars, dreamy and glowy. (Just don’t feed it after midnight. Or do. Honestly, I have no idea what happens then.)
Also just like a real Mogwai - Don't hang these in direct sunlight, they don't like it. Some of the colours are dye based and are not as colourfast as my other paintings.
They are all varnished in layers of protective UV covering while allowing the glow to still work. I'm expecting them to be intensely coloured for a few years and then sadly they will lessen in their intensity. Are they still worth it? I don't know, their beauty is ephemeral and intense. The glow is as always forever lasting.
Because I’m still in this experimental phase, these are very affordable. They are small at 30 cm x 30 cm and easier to ship as well. I want them to find good homes while I figure out where it's all going next. So if you’ve ever wanted a little tiny galaxy of your own where the starlight is yours to keep, now is the time. What do you think?
